What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a versatile form of exercise that uses a specialised machine to provide resistance and support while developing strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and control. At Apollo Health Collective, our Reformer Pilates sessions are designed around you, combining the principles of Pilates with our wider understanding of rehabilitation, movement, and long-term physical health.

Whether you are completely new to Pilates, returning to exercise after an injury or operation, looking to complement your sporting performance, or simply want to become stronger and more mobile, Reformer Pilates can be adapted to suit your current ability and goals. The adjustable resistance and supported positions of the Reformer allow exercises to be progressed or modified according to the individual.

Our approach is particularly suited to people looking for more than a traditional group exercise class. Sessions focus on movement quality, controlled strength, stability, mobility, posture, balance, and body awareness, helping you develop the physical capacity and confidence to move well both inside and outside the studio.

Reformer Pilates can also form an important part of rehabilitation. Our experienced instructors work with clients following surgery or injury and those managing long-term musculoskeletal conditions. We can adapt exercises to accommodate individual limitations while progressively building strength and function. For clients managing conditions such as osteopenia or osteoporosis, or those living with neurological conditions, exercise can be carefully tailored to support strength, balance, confidence, and functional independence.

For active individuals and athletes, Reformer Pilates provides an effective way to develop core and whole-body strength, improve movement control, and complement existing training. It can be particularly valuable alongside running, cycling, strength training, and other sports by addressing areas of strength, mobility, coordination, and control that may otherwise be overlooked.

Ultimately, our aim is to help you build a stronger, more capable body that supports the life you want to lead. Whether your goal is rehabilitation, improved fitness, better movement, healthy ageing, or simply feeling stronger in everyday life, our Reformer Pilates programmes are personalised around you.

Our Process

Understand Your Goals

Every Reformer Pilates journey starts with understanding you. We discuss your health history, previous injuries or surgery, current activity levels, exercise experience, and what you want to achieve. Whether you want to become stronger, improve your mobility, return to exercise, or support your rehabilitation, your programme is built around your individual needs.

1

Assess Your Movement

2

Your instructor will consider your movement quality, strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and exercise experience to determine the most appropriate starting point. This allows exercises and Reformer resistance to be adapted to your ability while identifying areas that may benefit from additional focus.

Personalised Reformer Pilates

3

You will be guided through a progressive programme of Reformer exercises designed around your goals. Sessions may focus on strength, stability, mobility, balance, coordination, flexibility, and controlled movement. Exercises can be modified or progressed as your confidence and physical capacity develop.

Build Strength for Life

4

Reformer Pilates is about creating lasting physical capability rather than simply completing a workout. As you progress, your programme will evolve to continually challenge your strength, mobility, balance, and control. Our goal is to help you feel stronger and more confident so that you can carry the benefits of Pilates into everyday life, sport, and long-term health.
