What is Podiatry?

Your feet are the foundation of how you move. At Apollo Health Collective, our podiatry service combines expert foot care with a wider understanding of movement, biomechanics, and lower-limb health to help you stay comfortable, active, and independent.

Podiatry is a healthcare profession focused on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs. Our podiatrist, Karen Killick, works with people of all ages and activity levels, providing personalised care for everything from common foot problems and nail conditions to persistent foot pain, biomechanical concerns, and lower-limb problems affecting how you walk, run, and exercise.

Our approach goes beyond treating the immediate symptom. We take the time to understand your health history, lifestyle, activity levels, footwear, previous injuries, and movement demands before assessing your feet and lower limbs. Where appropriate, we can also consider your walking pattern and biomechanics to understand how your feet interact with the rest of your body.

Treatment is tailored to your individual needs and may include routine podiatry care, treatment of corns and calluses, nail care, management of ingrown toenails, advice around footwear and foot health, biomechanical assessment, orthotic recommendations, and rehabilitation strategies. For active individuals, understanding how the feet function during walking, running, and exercise can also be an important part of managing recurring problems and supporting performance.

Whether you are experiencing foot pain, struggling with a recurring problem, concerned about your foot health, or simply want to remain active and mobile, our aim is to provide clear, practical, evidence-informed care that helps you move comfortably and confidently for the long term.

Our Process

Understand Your Feet

1

Every appointment starts with understanding you. We discuss your symptoms, medical history, activity levels, footwear, lifestyle, previous injuries, and what you want to achieve. This provides the context needed to understand your foot health rather than simply treating an isolated symptom.

Assess Your Feet and Lower Limb

2

Your podiatrist will carry out a thorough assessment of your feet and lower limbs, considering factors such as skin and nail health, joint mobility, strength, movement, and function. Where relevant, your walking pattern and biomechanics may also be assessed to understand how your feet function during everyday movement or exercise.

Personalised Podiatry Care

3

Following your assessment, we will explain our findings and recommend the most appropriate treatment. This may include routine podiatry treatment, nail and skin care, corn and callus management, footwear advice, biomechanical guidance, orthotic recommendations, or exercises and rehabilitation strategies.

Keep You Moving

4

Our goal is to support your long-term foot health, not simply provide short-term symptom relief. We will provide practical advice and preventative strategies to help you maintain healthy feet, improve comfort and mobility, and continue doing the activities that matter to you.
