Surgical Rehab
Helping you prepare for surgery, recover with confidence, and rebuild strength and function through structured, evidence-informed rehabilitation.
What is Surgical Rehabilitation?
Surgery is often only one part of recovery. The rehabilitation that follows, and in many cases the preparation beforehand, plays an important role in how well you regain strength, movement and confidence in everyday life.
At Apollo Health Collective, our surgical rehabilitation service supports people before and after orthopaedic surgery, including hip and knee replacements, ligament reconstructions, shoulder surgery and other musculoskeletal procedures. Your programme is built around your operation, your surgeon's guidance, your stage of recovery and your personal goals.
We use VALD technology to measure what matters as you recover. Strength testing, movement analysis and force plate assessment can help establish a baseline, highlight differences between sides and show how your capacity is changing over time, so your progression is guided by objective information as well as how you feel.
Rehabilitation is available in clinic at Sheringham and online. For online support, we use VALD's TeleHab platform to deliver your personalised exercise programme straight to your phone, with guided videos, session reminders and the ability to record how each session went, so we can review your progress between appointments.
Our aim is not simply to help you recover from the operation itself, but to help you return to the activities that matter to you, whether that is walking without discomfort, getting back into the garden, returning to the golf course or getting back to sport.
Who can benefit from Surgical Rehab?
Surgical rehabilitation can be useful for:
Hip Replacement

Our Process
Understand Your Surgery
1
We begin by discussing your operation, medical history, any guidance or protocol from your surgical team, your current symptoms and what you want to get back to. If you are preparing for surgery, we look at what you can do now to build strength and confidence beforehand.
Measure Your Starting Point
2
Using clinical assessment alongside VALD strength, movement and force testing where appropriate, we establish a clear baseline. This helps identify differences between sides and the areas most important to your recovery.
Progressive Rehabilitation
Your programme progresses through the stages of recovery, from early mobility and pain management through to strength, balance and functional tasks. Sessions can take place in clinic or online, with your exercises delivered through the VALD TeleHab app so you always know what to do between appointments.

Return to What You Love
4
Repeat testing lets us compare results over time and decide when you are ready to progress. As your capacity builds, rehabilitation becomes increasingly specific to your goals, helping you return to everyday life, work or sport with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or contact us below. We will be happy to answer any and all questions around the clinic, our practitioners or our services…
-
Where appropriate, yes. Pre-operative rehabilitation, often called prehab, can help you build strength, improve mobility and understand what to expect after your operation. Going into surgery in better physical condition can make the early stages of recovery feel more manageable. We will always work within any guidance from your surgical team.
-
This depends on your operation and your surgeon's protocol. Some people begin gentle rehabilitation within days, while others need a period of protection first. We will follow your surgical team's guidance and progress your programme as your recovery allows.
-
Yes. Online sessions allow us to assess, guide and progress your rehabilitation from home. Your exercises are delivered through VALD's TeleHab app, with video guidance and the ability to log each session, so we can monitor your progress between appointments. Some assessments, such as strength and force plate testing, need to take place in clinic.
-
VALD testing gives us objective measurements of strength, movement and force production. These help establish a baseline, track changes over time and guide decisions about when to progress, alongside your symptoms, clinical assessment and your surgeon's advice.
-
Please bring any rehabilitation protocol, discharge information or exercise sheets from your surgical team, along with comfortable clothing that allows us to assess the area that was operated on. This helps us align your programme with their guidance from the start.
-
Recovery time varies depending on the type of surgery, your health before the operation, your goals and how your body responds. We will explain what to expect at each stage and adjust your programme as you progress.
