Paediatric Osteopathy
Supporting Healthy Growth, Movement and Development Through Gentle, Individualised Osteopathic Care.
What is Paediatric Osteopathy?
Every child develops differently, and throughout infancy, childhood, and adolescence, their bodies undergo rapid physical change. At Apollo Health Collective, our paediatric osteopaths provide gentle, personalised care to support healthy movement, physical development, and musculoskeletal wellbeing from the earliest stages of life through to adolescence.
We understand that parents naturally want the very best for their children. Whether you have concerns about your child's posture, movement, growing pains, sporting injuries, or simply want reassurance that they are developing well, our osteopaths take the time to listen, assess, and provide clear, evidence-informed advice tailored to your child's individual needs.
Our approach is centred around understanding the whole child rather than focusing solely on a specific symptom. Every assessment considers your child's medical history, birth history (where relevant), developmental milestones, activity levels, growth, and lifestyle before carrying out an age-appropriate physical examination.
Treatment is always gentle, adapted to your child's age, comfort, and stage of development. Where appropriate, care may include gentle manual therapy, movement advice, rehabilitation exercises, activity guidance, and education for parents to support their child's ongoing development and confidence in movement.
Whether your child is a newborn, toddler, school-aged child, or young athlete, our aim is to help them move comfortably, stay active, and develop with confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
Our Process
Getting to Know Your Child
1
Every appointment begins with a detailed discussion about your child's health, medical history, birth history where appropriate, development, symptoms, lifestyle, sporting activities, and any concerns you may have as a parent. We believe understanding the whole picture is essential before beginning any treatment.
Assess and Identify
2
Our osteopath will perform an age-appropriate assessment of your child's movement, posture, joints, muscles, and overall musculoskeletal function. We always explain what we are doing, ensure your child feels comfortable throughout, and involve parents in every stage of the consultation.
Personalised Care
3
If treatment is appropriate, it will always be tailored to your child's age, comfort, and individual needs. This may include gentle osteopathic techniques, movement advice, simple exercises, activity modification, or guidance for parents to continue supporting their child's progress at home.
Supporting Long-Term Development
4
Our goal is not simply to address today's concerns but to support healthy movement as your child grows. We provide practical advice and ongoing guidance to help children remain active, confident, and resilient throughout childhood and adolescence.

-
Paediatric osteopathy is a specialist area of osteopathic practice that focuses on assessing and supporting the musculoskeletal health of babies, children, and adolescents. Osteopaths use gentle, age-appropriate assessment techniques to understand how a child's muscles, joints, and movement patterns may be contributing to discomfort or functional limitations. Treatment, where appropriate, is always adapted to the child's age and individual needs.
-
Yes. Osteopathic assessment and treatment for children are adapted specifically to their age, size, and stage of development. Techniques used with babies and young children are very gentle. Before beginning treatment, your osteopath will complete a thorough assessment to ensure care is appropriate and will explain all findings and recommendations so you can make an informed decision.
-
Parents commonly seek an osteopathic assessment for concerns such as postural changes, growing pains, sports injuries, neck or back pain, joint discomfort, movement restrictions, hypermobility, or musculoskeletal pain associated with physical activity. If your child's symptoms require another healthcare professional, we will advise you accordingly and, where appropriate, refer you to the most suitable service.
-
Your child's first appointment includes a detailed discussion about their health, development, symptoms, medical history, and your concerns as a parent. This is followed by a gentle physical assessment tailored to their age. We explain our findings clearly and discuss whether osteopathic treatment is appropriate, as well as any advice or exercises that may support your child's recovery or development.
-
No. In most cases, children can be assessed by an osteopath without a referral. However, if your child is under the care of another healthcare professional or has a complex medical condition, we encourage you to let us know so we can work collaboratively to ensure the most appropriate care.
-
At Apollo Health Collective, we provide compassionate, evidence-informed care centred around your child's individual needs. We take time to answer your questions, explain our findings in clear language, and develop personalised management plans that support healthy movement, physical development, and long-term wellbeing. Our goal is to help children remain active, confident, and comfortable as they grow.
